Product name: Methigel (Evsco Pharmaceuticals)
Active ingredients: Methionine 400 mg, Corn Syrup, Malt Syrup, White Petrolatum, Soybean Oil, Cane Molasses, Mineral Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Water, Methylcellulose, Peptones, Sodium Benzoate (preservative). Uses: Methigel Urinary Acidifier is a palatable supplemental source of Methionine for dogs and cats. Helps in maintaining acidic urine and to control urine odor. Combined with the proper diet also helps to maintain healthy urinary tract.
Availability: Methigel is a non-prescription over-the-counter (OTC) product.
How to use: The recommended dose in cats is 1/2-1 teaspoonful daily and recommended dose in dogs is 1 teaspoonful daily. Methigel is extremelly palatable. To stimulate taste interest, place a small amount of Methigel on the animal’s nose or directly into the mouth.
Side effects: Large doses may cause gastro-intestinal upset when fed on an empty stomach.
Precautions: This medication is not for use in animals less than 1 year of age. This medication should not be given to animals with liver or kidney disease. Do not use this product with any other urinary acidifying diets. This product is not intended for use in pregnant or nursing animals. Give this medication with food. This medication may cause gastrointestinal upset when fed on an empty stomach.
Overdose: If overdose is suspected, contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency hospital.
Storage: Store in a cool place. Keep this medication out of the reach of children and pets.
