Brand Name: Kennel-Jec-2 (Durvet)
Active Ingredients: Canine parainfluenza, modified live virus and Bordetella bronchiseptica, avirulent live culture.
Uses: Kennel-Jec-2 is recommended for vaccination of healthy, susceptible dogs and puppies as an aid in the reduction of canine parainfluenza and B. bronchiseptica infections (infectious canine cough, kennel cough) in healthy dogs 3 weeks of age or older.
Availability: Kennel-Jec-2 is a non-prescription over-the-counter (OTC) product, and available as a single dose with nasal pipette.
How to use: Rehydrate the vaccine with the accompanying sterile diluent by first removing the tear away metal seals and the rubber stoppers from both vials. Using the enclosed nasal pipette, remove the sterile water diluent and add to the vial of freeze-dried vaccine. Swirl gently until completely dissolved. After re-hydration, extract entire contents with the nasal pipette and administer the entire dose intranasal. Do not vaccinate puppies under 3 weeks of age. Puppies vaccinated between 3 and 6 weeks of age should be re-vaccinated at 6 weeks. Annual re-vaccination is recommended.
Side effects: This vaccine uses Neomycin as a preservative. Do not use this vaccine in animals allergic to Neomycin. A small percentage of dogs may show sneezing, coughing or nasal discharge for 3 to 10 days following vaccination. While these are usually temporary symptoms, anti-bacterial therapy may be indicated. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur. Epinephrine is the antidote.
Precautions: This product is intended for intranasal (in the nose) use only using the included diluent. Use the entire contents when first mixed. This product is intended for veterinary use in dogs only.
Overdose: Systemic reactions from inadvertent intramuscular or subcutaneous injection have been reported. Symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite, jaundice and death associated with liver failure. If inadvertent injection occurs, contact a veterinarian or veterinary emergency hospital immediately.
Storage: Store the product in the refrigerator at 35° to 45° F. Keep out of the reach of children or pets.
