Although the appearance of the California Spangled Cat suggests it is a wild breed, it is actually a complicated mixture of many domestic cat strains, including British Shorthair, Manx, a housecat from Malaysia, a Seal Point Siamese, an Abyssinian, an Angora tabby, and a stray cat from Egypt. Paul Casey, an American screenwriter, developed the California Spangled Cat in an attempt to create a domestic cat with the appearance of a wild cat. He had visited Africa and was appalled by the number of wild cats being hunted to extinction, and so he wished to create one that would survive in people's homes. Although the California Spangled cat was instantly popular, many criticized the commercial methods used to introduce the new breed. Amidst the controversy, defenders of the new breed claimed that the California Spangled Cat is a symbol of the wild cats being driven to extinction. This beautiful cat resembles a wild leopard from the plains of Africa. Not just beautiful, this cat also has a wonderful temperament and the demand for them is consistently growing. No evidence of any specific heritable medical conditions in the California Spangled Cat. Energetic, intelligent, good-natured, observing, enjoy companionship but not demanding.
